ARCH 1101 - Stairs experiment (Trunk Stairs)

The overall image of the trunk stairs.

The front view of the stairs

Top view of the stairs.

Side section of the stairs

These stairs are based on the curved and warped cylinder which support the platform which turn into stairs. The steps will be made from tinted glass so that it will be transparent and people will still be able to see the steps.

The stairs leading up to the above terrain studio room. I might include landing in later designs because it seems that the stair might need a break in the middle.

ARCH 1101 - Stairs experiment (fish bone style)

Sketch of a section of the stairs

Rough skeches I did in class when thinking of ideas for stairs.

First construction of the fish bone staircase.

An image of the stairs.

Images of Staircase from above. (water fountain and bench will be helpful)

cross section of the stairs from the bottom.
X-ray image of staircase from above.

These are screenshots of the staircase I made. I have yet to modify the planks for the stairs so that the weight balance look about right. The unique shape for the planks also makes the stair planks look like spikes coming out from the tunk of the staircase. This staircase will probally be leading up towards the studio room above the datum line.

P.S. : Fellow students please leave comments or suggestions so that I can improve my work, Thanks

ARCH 1101 - TASK 5

CHOOSE ONE OF THE STAIRS IN TODAYS LECTURE AND DRAW 2 SECTIONS THROUGH IT. TRY TO IMAGINE HOW IT WAS MADE AND REPRESENT THE DIFFERENT MATERIALS IT IS MADE FROM USING DIFFERENT FORMS OF HATCHING. IMAGE THE STRUCTURE THAT SUPPORTS IT ALSO...

This is my cross section of the stairs i have chosen. The dots represent the steel bars that maybe used to create reinforced concrete for the stairs. Reinforced concrete is strong and durable therefore I think that might be the material used to construct the stairs. The stairs I think should go into the wall and the section in the wall will be heavier and larger in order to balance the weight out therefore I have made the second cross section bigger and with 2 steel bars in the middle in order to make the larger side equally strong.

ARCH 1101 - TASK 4

LIQUID (bottom section)

The bottom half of this section represents liquid. The swirls convey the meaning of movement and the liquid gradually flows towards the center. The black around the swirl represents earth and dirt giving it an underground sense.

BURNING (top section)

The top section of this sketch represent the verb "burning". I used an illustration of flames to convey the idea. The simplicity emphasies the fact that flame is common and simple and that it will be able to process the idea of burning to the views around.

ARCH 1101 - TASK 3

Draw a series of 18 sections exploring the relationship between two of the projects you chose and the ground line as a datum. Use a range of carefully hatched lines to signify where the section cuts through solid material and to indicate what that material might be.

ARCH 1101 - TASK 1

THE 3 POSTS TO SHOW WHAT I DID, WHAT INSPIRES ME AND WHAT I FIND BEAUTIFUL

A. Best piece of creative work from high school

This is an image of a display board that I designed during design classes at high school. The content on this board is about briefs which I got to choose in the beginning of the year. I choose to design a logo, a aircraft skin, a website chain and the inflight magazine cover for an imaginary airline company. I intended this company to be upperclass and luxurious thats why I built my designs around the colour of regal blue. The logo of the company is based on a dragons head however it is very vague in order to give the image a mystical and dream like appearance. I liked this project very much and hopefully I will find projects similar to this one during the time I do my architectural studies degree.

B. An image of the building that inspired me to become an architect

This is an image of the Cosmo Dome, Osaka, Japan.

This building was an inspiration to my desire to pursue in the career of architecture because of its exotic style. When I first saw an illustration of the structure on a local tourist map I was very curious about its real life appearance therefore I went to the island in order to inspect this futuristic style of architecture. I find this building very special and attractive because it gives you the sense of what the buildings of the future might be like. This dome I think could be refered to as the structure before its time. In the future we might see houses designed like this and they will all relate to this kind of futuristic style.

C. An original photograph of something beautiful

This is an image taken in the mountains in I-Lan, Taiwan

I see nature as beautiful for I like tramping and camping in the outdoors. An image could not fully explain the feeling because in order for nature to show its true beauty you must be at the scene in first person. Nature shows it beauty through sight, sound, taste and touch. This image is only a fraction of what I identify as beautiful. Before I came to Australia for University I was in high school in Auckland and back then I regularly tramp and camp in a national park in the central North Island of New Zealand. It is called the Tongariro National Park and it is home to 2 dormant and 1 active volcanoes. The bushes and landscape there are similar to the one in the picture, and is quite beautiful, however I could not show a picture because I didn't bring a camera. However, the tramp in Taiwan also represents a similar idea.
